Al Madina Al Zarqa "The Blue City" Development
A mixed urban development project based in Al Sawadi, creating a sustained value for Oman and its visitors. The first phase of the development will focus on tourism and include 4.5 km of beach and waterfront. 3 Beach resorts, 1 golf resort and 1 city beach resort / conference hotel which will operated by leading 5-star hotel chains. In addition, The Blue City will include an arabian style tourist village with a souq, apartments and boutiques, an aquarium and an amphitheatre. The other phases to be built will revolove around the Education, Healthcare, Sports and Marine Sectors.
Apart from the tourism that it will potenitally invite in the future, this project focuses on fulfilling the social, economical and cultural objectives, in which it will create massive job opportunities for the local community. This will help reduce the unemployment rate. In addition, it will definately generate educational and professional opportunities from throughout the country.
I guess the government is starting to look more into the tourism industry as a source of producing revenue. It's definately a good step towards placing Oman on top of the tourism map. We definately have alot to offer.

Well since I've beat you to the punch of bloggin the topic first, I would love to know your input on this development and its impact on the country. Your opinion is greatly appriciated.
I think that this would be a great development for our semi-sleepy nation since we need this sort of investment in our country. I think this is also another initial step in tapping into other aspects for the Omani economy. It should generate a lot of work for the Omani community and much needed development.
